Kwirajungle is a small village under Udalguri District which approximately 25 km away from Udalguri town. Adivasi, Muslim, Assamesse, Bihari and Bodo are the main inhabitants of the village.
A 18 year old girl Pooja Thakur (white dress) lives with her parents and five sisters at Kwirajungle. Her father works as a barber in the weekly bazar.
As a single earner he could not effort to pay for Pooja education. After she completed her higher secondary examination she had to quit her studies despite her interest to study
It was during this time she got in touch one of the community worker from the project who was visiting her village. When she shared about her family situation and her keen interest to learn, the community worker helped her enroll in 6 months beautician course in Udalguri. Pooja has completed her six months beautician course and plans to start a beauty parlor which she hope to help her father to support the family. She said “people from our place goes to the next town to visit the beauty parlor so I think it will be good to have it in our place.”
